Report: Novelis to stop buying aluminum from RUSAL

MOSCOW, Apr 19 (PRIME) -- Novelis, the world’s biggest producer of rolled aluminum products, will no longer purchase metal produced by Russian aluminum giant UC RUSAL to comply with U.S. sanctions, Reuters reported on Thursday citing a Novelis email.

The company said that it can reduce its dependence on aluminum purchases from RUSAL.

“Accordingly, we are confident that the risk for any material disruption in production will be low,” the company said, Reuters reported.

On April 6, the U.S. imposed sanctions against 38 Russian tycoons, officials and companies including RUSAL.
